During the multi-check service, our trained staff check fluids, perform a road test and lift inspection, and examine the pan. It is not uncommon for some of these processes to be conducted by both a manager and someone from the technical staff. Not only do these inspections supply a thorough diagnosis of the operation and performance of the transmission, a second check gives another look at the primary systems of the transmission to provide extra assurance when identifying any problems.

Fluid Check

The fluid check, which is the easiest procedure to accomplish, is an excellent indicator of wear and any damage. A good transmission has red fluid that is clear. Discoloured or foul-smelling fluid may indicate internal wear or damage occurring while driving. These warning signs along with other indicators may prompt a closer internal look at the transmission.

Road Test

A two-part road test helps determine any problems in the transmission such as slipping or shifting that is noisy, hard, soft, or uneven. Each position is thoroughly tested during both the stationary and driving phases which are the most elaborate parts of the multi-check service.

The lift inspection consists of checking the neutral switch, throttle assembly, modulators, U-joints, transmission mounts, electronic controls, engine revolutions per minute (RPM), and fluid retention. This check determines if any minor adjustments are needed to correct any transmission problems found.

Pan Examination

Road tests may be the most detailed service, but pan examinations are the most vital portion of the multi-check by taking a look inside for wear and tear. It is normal to witness some metal debris and materials from friction in pans which can be remedied by simple adjustments. However, if this does not solve the problem, a more in-depth inspection service may be required to diagnose the difficulty exactly.

A transmission is a very complex system that consists of hundreds of precision machined parts that operate together. Dismantling and inspecting each part inside after taking out the transmission may be the only way to determine the problem and charging the correct repair fee. This also enables the customer to see the worn or damaged part and be given correct information on the cause of the trouble. There is a labour charge for this inspection service which will be explained by the manager.

The road tests and multi-check services are free, and all the technicians in our centres which are located from coast to coast are experts in 4×4′s, imports, and transmissions for front wheel drives including repairs to the front axle.
